About Richard

Born in Quebec City, I was raised speaking French. It wasn't until attending Laval University that I realized the wealth of knowledge available in English. Determined to immerse myself, I pursued a Bachelor's in Agriculture at McGill University. My bilingual skills soon propelled me into a training role at a Toronto tech company, allowing me to travel across Canada and abroad. In the late 90s, my wanderlust took hold. I backpacked through the Yucatan, Honduras, Guatemala, Ecuador, and the Amazon, fueling my desire to explore the world. In 2000, I married my adventurous partner, Lisa, and we honeymooned in Greece and Turkey.

After starting a family in Toronto, we relocated to the small village of Verner, where I operated an extermination business and invested in rental properties. As our children grew and Lisa neared retirement, we began planning our next chapter in Central America. A 2019 investor's course introduced me to Belize, and I was instantly enamored. The following year, amid the COVID-19 crisis, I joined a real estate investment group, re-evaluating my priorities. Canada no longer felt like the right fit, so I reached out to David Kafka of RE/MAX 1st Choice Belize. David offered me a job, and by September 2021, my family and I had made Belize our home. I'm now part of a team with over a decade of local experience, ready to help others like you discover the beauty and opportunity of this welcoming nation.
