Belize Jungle: Reviews of Calico Jack’s and Sleeping Giant

Last week was a bit stressful.
I wanted to get away and lock myself up in a room to catch up on work.
What did I do?
I went to Cayo and stayed in Calico Jack’s Village. Then I visited Sleeping Giant Rainforest Lodge for a few days.
What beautiful and peaceful places!
I can’t believe I do not stop to smell the roses more often and enjoy Belize. My problem is that I enjoy what I do, and my career doesn’t feel like “work” at all. But it does get a little stressful when I get behind and can’t catch up.
At Calico Jack’s, the room we had was a nice, large 2 bedroom and 2 bathrooms with a little kitchenette.
I judge a hotel by the water pressure, hot water, and beds. The water pressure and hot water were AWESOME, but the bed was a bit hard for me.
The grounds were nice, and the wildlife sounds were so neat. The room had internet and TV, so my sons could enjoy a bit of entertainment when they got up at the crack of dawn. The swimming pool was cool, and the food was good.
When we went to Sleeping Giant, we stayed in a Creekside Cottage. The resort featured elegant and high-end finishing, and I also spent a minute in the hammock next to the peaceful sound of the creek flowing. The hot water pressure and the bed were also fantastic.
The room had an outdoor tub, and the grounds were to die for... the river was awesome! The trails, wildlife, gardens, pool, and food were all wonderful.
I was stressed the first day as I couldn’t connect to get work done because the internet is only at the restaurant, lobby, and pool. I wasn’t sure how to download movies on the computer, so one of my sons was a bit bored. The skylight had him up early, he enjoyed running and walking, and swimming was so much fun for him. I asked the restaurant to put Coke Zeros in the fridge to get them cold for me, and they did!
While I am busier now more than ever, I have to remind myself of the beautiful country we live in, and I always want to do my best to take a few moments to stop and smell the roses.
EXCITING NEWS! Alaska Airlines just announced they will start flying to Belize in June from Los Angeles and Seattle.
Belize, as of this week, has removed the requirement to download the Belize HealthApp.
