Why do you keep seeing real estate commercials when you’re up at 11pm? Why is the Huffington Post and other major news outlets talking about Belize? Well, since Belize is starting to gain some attraction, let me tell you about what all the fuss is about. 

The first time I mentioned to family and friends that we were moving to Belize, the first thing most people said was, “Where is that? Brazil?”  Not for too much longer will people start to mix the two countries up. Most people want a vacation in the tropics but can’t afford resort prices. Travel agents have noted that travelers are moving away from “all-inclusive” packages and are going for more of the “a-la-carte” style packages. This allow vacationers an opportunity to experience parts of their destination outside of the resort they choose to stay at. Quite honestly, that’s why our family decided to come back to Belize for two weeks back in 2008. Yes, having a resort plan out your day might be the easy way to go. On the other hand, having things to do at your own pace and making sure your whole family is enjoying the activities in my opinion, is the most important. Oh, and did I mention a heck of a lot cheaper?

The Belize tourism board have said that for the past 15 months tourism in Belize have been experiencing “record breaking increases” in overnight arrivals monthly. That’s a 33% growth! 

“Overall, the first nine months of 2016 recorded a total of 293,622 overnight arrivals, a 16.4 per cent increase over the same nine months of 2015, which had 252,329 overnight arrivals.” - The Belize Tourism Board
